Weining Song

  Weining Song,Male,born in October 1958, Australian, Professor in plant genomics. In 1982 July, he graduated from the Department of Plant Protection, Hunan Agricultural University major in plant protection; In 1987 August, he obtained the master's degree of microbial physiology in The Adelaide University, Australia; In 1994 December, he obtained the doctoral degree majoring in Wheat Genomics in The Adelaide University, Australia; 1992 -1997, he worked as molecular biologist in Queensland Agricultural Biotechnology and Plant Genetic Resources Conservation Center Australia; From 1997 to 2002, he governed the laboratory of molecular biology in The Queensland State-Leslie Research Center, Australia; From 2002 -2006 January, he worked as the senior scientist at the Institute of Evolution, University of Haifa. From 2006 February to present, he worked as the full-time professor in College of Agronomy, Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University.

  Research Interests:

  The research interests of Prof Song focuses on Wheat and barley Molecular biology and genomics, as well as plant genomics in abiotic stress and plant origin and evolution

  Courses

  《The dawn of civilization—plant and animal domestication》、《Plant genomics and proteomics》and 《Introduction to agronomy》for undergraduate student、《Advance in crop breeding technology》for graduate student.

  Research Projects and publication:

  Professor Song got more than 20 funding or financial support about wheat genome physical mapping or sequencing, wheat origin, domestication and evolution, the molecular basis on plant resistance to abiotic stresses as well as identification and discovery of  the elite resource and functional genes in wild barely and wheat. He was responsible for National Science Foundation of China (grant No. 31561143005, 31471825 and 31271705), the State's Key Project of Research and Development Plan of China (Grant No. 2016YFD0101004 and 2016YFD0100302) as well as National Recommend International Advanced Agricultural Science and Technology Project (948 program, 2010-S1). He also  participate to publish 4 English textbooks published by Taylor & Francis CRC press and Springer Science publishing.
